Life history

Males patrol a range in search of receptive females. After mating the females lay their eggs individually on the host plants. The larvae feed on the host plant until they form their pupa.

Flights

In the southern part of their range adults can be found year round. In the northern part of their range multiple generations of adults are found June through October.

Fun Facts

Cloudless Sulphurs cannot survive the cold winter temperatures found in the northern part of their range. So each fall the adults have to migrate south to a warmer winter temperature and then new individuals migrate north in the spring.
